Dark comedy reigns in “Horrible Bosses,” a raunchy comedy combining joviality, havoc and murder in the land of the “Hangover” films. A trio of pals is the three stooges of this rowdy outing of each working for different employers at other companies and all in sync to off the boss. Nick Hendricks (likable Jason Bateman) is an eager beaver on his way up the corporate ladder of unprincipled and arrogant Dave Harken (Kevin Spacey). Kurt Buckman (Jason Sudeikis) is a contented accounts manager until Bobby Pellitt (an unrecognizable, homely Colin Farrell as a slime-ball druggie nut job)takes over the company. Dale Arbus (Charlie Day) is a dental hygienist working (pun intended) under his oversexed boss, Julia Harris (Jennifer Aniston), a hottie dentist more interested in making out than filling cavities. In a goofy cameo, Jamie Foxx gets gross laughs as a hit man with an angle on how to get rid of the horrible bosses. In storylines of this type, not everything works out according to the proposed scheme.
Seth Gordon directs and in the way it plays, coarse fun goes over the top with offensive, dirty talk. The cast has comical moments in the daffy screwball offering with Farrell playing against type as a caricature of himself, and showing a flair for comedic roles.
