Piscataway, New Jersey is primarily known as the home of Rutgers University but the recent opening of a barbershop in town is increasingly creating a massive buzz in the area. If you ask me, I can confirm that a few members of the Swipelife staff have been patrons at this establishment, present company included.
Chief Barber Shop, the brainchild of Khalil Malamug alongside brothers Rain & Reggie See sought to revolutionize the approach of the modern barber shop from presentation, customer service and overall aesthetic. For the multi-cultural climate of suburban Central Jersey this business model is innovative especially with the disparity of a focal barbershop in town – Chief now serves as the new blueprint.
Head barber Khalil Malamug, a six-year veteran who’s reputation as the go-to barber in the area, brought in a steady clientele who followed him into a shop of his own. Khalil has even cut (bravely I might add) the hair of mixed martial arts champ Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.
The full service shop includes complimentary beverages and coat check by their resident butlers, hot face towel service, a range of grooming accessories and custom New Jersey themed caps by another known NJ establishment Cap City.
With the barbers dressed like an Autumn look book and patrons of all ages and backgrounds sitting on comfy couches watching English Premier League matches, the outlook is bright for a new wave of gentlemen-themed barbershops in the future.
