The Glenlivet claims to be ‘The Single Malt That Started It All,’ and in releasing this super-limited 70 year old whisky, we have no reason to doubt them. This particular batch was distilled in February 1940 and was aged in first fill sherry casks. This means that no other liquor was used in the casks prior to this batch, a very uncommon occurrence with modern whiskys. The liquor is presented in a beautiful teardrop decanter and will consist of a 100 bottle run; at £13000, we have no reason to believe we’ll ever taste it, but one can dream, right?
