Mercedes-Benz will celebrate the 125th anniversary of the motor car in grand fashion at this year’s Retro Classics event. Since Stuttgart (the home of M-B) will be hosting the prestigious gathering, it is especially important for Mercedes to make its presence felt, especially with all it has done for the automotive world. Four cars will represent the Mercedes brand, each from an integral point in gasoline-powered time. The Benz Patent Motor car, the world’s first automobile and a staple at the Frankfurt Auto Show, is perhaps the most recognizable. The other three vehicles will be: a 500K Special Roadster (W29), 220SE Coupe (W111), and F800 Style (previously mentioned here: http://swipelife.com/2010/03/24/mercedes-f800-style/). In addition to these selections, Mercedes will be showing a trio of classic coupes in order to generate excitement for the upcoming C-Class coupe, due out this spring. Also at the exhibit will be product drawings from the 1930s as well as design interpretations from the 50s through present day. It’s safe to say Mercedes-Benz is pulling out all the stops for the “125! years of the motor car” campaign.
