Jiri Geller plays on popular culture in a bizarre and colorful way. Works such as Donald Duck’s head with thorns or in a Burberry plaid pattern may make us wonder what message he’s trying to send. But at first glance, you feel that there is something just truly fun and light-hearted about the pieces. The sculptures are pristine and the way they are presented is borderline immaculate. Skulls with thorn crowns, a black balloon, spilled ice cream, and a Gene Simmons head turns some of our attention in the past with iconic characters, but putting them with objects that seems so random, we kind of get the sense that there is a play here on the theme of inanimate items and pop culture.
