After earning the bragging rights of finishing a recent half marathon in the decadent city of Miami, I decided to chill for a few days in south beach. I thought I was tan enough but alas, I headed to the local sephora to get me some tanning gels! As time goes by, I get more in tuned with the city’s exuberant lifestyle. The locals work hard and know how to enjoy what life has to offer!
It was not surprising that dining at one of Miami’s hotspots, I would be rubbing elbows with Miami’s elite even on a weekday. A slew of convertible beemers, benz and other high-end automobiles would drop off trendsetters as the valet attendants handsomely park these rides. The spot is the Fontainebleau’s Hakkasan.
It was a catwalk in getting to the fourth floor rooftop restaurant. Once you step off the elevator, you are greeted by such a cool vibe. All senses are seduced. A houte Chinois interior, a mixture of conversations and sophisticated music and the scent intriguing your palate as you take your seat.
The contemporary spot offers authentic Cantonese fare complimented by a myriad menu of wines and sake. Although the list is exquisite, I was fortunate that I was dining with internationally intelligent couple who knew exactly what’s hot on the menu. From the delicately served dumplings to the jasmine rice that became a canvas of my main dish 甜豆滑炒雞丁, the bottle of wine was indeed splendid! I have been transported to a thrilling dining experience. I must say that the pandan souffle sealed the night.
Avant-garde as it is hakkasan, I will always look forward to my next visit.
