It’s always fascinating to see the many subjects painters get their inspiration from. In the case of painter Karin Jurick, mugshots of people from different walks of life is what desired her to start this amazing series. The faces remain anonymous, but each image is a 4″ x 4″ portrait on masonite. She did one painting each day for 100 days that included men and women of different races and ages. There’s something haunting yet magnetic about the images. They’re reminiscent of comic book characters all in profile mode – villains and heroes alike. But this one’s probably mostly villains. The paintings were meant to be auctioned one by one, but a very determined individual purchased the whole set. Take a look at all the paintings bellow.
