Richard Chai’s latest collection for Fall and Winter 2011 has really showcased his great range of working with different textiles and silhouettes. Chai’s diverse looks incorporate his trademark chic and urban design point. The color scale is dominated by various grays, and the only complimentary color used is appears to be olive green. There was a portion of the show that included a series of items that used the same plaid from the outerwear to the shirting and to the trousers. The runway presented two stories where one featured trim silhouettes in the suiting and more formal wear, and the other casual looks included slouchier pants and loose flowing knits. A really intriguing piece for me was the elegant-looking “pajama shirt” which I think will become a more and more popular trend among the public.
