Commander Shepard has overcome death itself in his long battle against the Geth and the Reapers. Now his battle for the future and freedom of the universe heads towards a final resolution with the release of Mass Effect 3 by Bioware. Bioware, one of the top game studios in the world, has kept almost all news regarding this third installment of the Mass Effect series under wraps until now. That all changed when the new trailer for Mass Effect debuted last night during The 2010 Video Game Awards.
While there isn’t any actual real-time gameplay video, viewers are treated to a few glimpses of the plot of the last chapter of the Mass Effect Trilogy. The teaser trailer shows Britain under attack with a wounded Alliance sniper taking out Reaper foot soliders from the inside of Big Ben. The Reapers are also revealed to have finally reached earth and we see their immense size and power as they stomp cities underneath. From the observation deck of the Normandy, Commander Sheppard grimly observes the scene and ponders his next plan of attack.
Mass Effect 3 is tentatively scheduled for release during the holiday season of 2011 so fans will have to make due with the teaser for now. In addition, EA’s online store accidentally posted the store listing for Mass Effect 3 last night revealing some placeholder box art and price ($59.99). Until more details emerge, enjoy the trailer!
