By Odin’s Beard! Thor Movie Trailer Released.

Avengers Assemble! Well, not quite but comic fans know that famous battle cry is drawing ever closer with the release of the newest Thor movie trailer by Marvel Studios (Iron Man, Iron Man 2). With only five months away from the release of Marvel Studio’s second major character premiere, the world waits to see if Thor will deliver the action and thrills that made both Iron Man films such a hit.

After watching the trailer, I’m impressed at the fine attention to detail director Kenneth Branagh has obviously focused on when creating both the world of Asgard and the look of the characters on screen. Asgard is gorgeous and really looks like the realm of the gods. From what the trailer reveals, the stars all appear exactly how they should from their depictions in the Thor comic. Chris Hemsworth towers on screen looking like a true god of thunder with bulging muscles and broad shoulders, Tom Hiddleston has perfected his ‘Loki sneer’ and crafty glances, and of course Anthony Hopkins looks otherworldly and godlike as Odin, stately ruler of Asgard. It’s also very cool to see Clark Gregg will have a much larger role in this film as S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Phil Coulson!

My only concern so far with this film is whether the plot will dwell too much with Thor learning to be human on earth. As a fan, I want to see Thor in full battle gear for most of this movie battling Frost Giants, his evil brother Loki, and of course the Destroyer. I don’t want to see Thor sitting around with Natalie Portman for half the film saying things like, “What is this hot… dog you have here on earth? Delicious!” Time will tell if Thor turns out to be more like Iron Man or the terrible 80′s He-Man. Let’s all cross our fingers that 2011 is the year that lightning strikes twice for Marvel Studios.
