Android’s newest heavyweight is making its debut next week, and there’s plenty to know about the successor to the well-loved NexusOne. The Nexus S is Google’s next offering to the growing cache of smart-phones, and really leaves little to be desired. Hardware-wise, the Nexus S packs a 1GHz Cortex A8 processor and flash memory starting at 16GB. The rear camera is spec’ed at 5MP (a little lackluster considering the Incredible’s 8MP), and also includes a front-facing camera for checking on your hair situation and the occasional video chat. But the real winner with this thing is Android 2.3. The Nexus S is the first phone to get the updated OS, deliciously dubbed “Gingerbread” (my girlfriend was banking on “Turtle Sundae”), which will help bring the Android market within spitting distance of the iPhone. Look for it December 16th for $199 on contract at your friendly neighborhood T-Mobile dealer.
