The J. Crew Spring ’11 preview brings us splendid images of 21st century Tom Sawyer sartoria. The Crew’s lead designer, Frank Muytjens, has conjured a fine sensibility of superbly rumpled elegance and understated luxe in his designs. An easy melding of timeless and cleverly melded nautical and workwear themes delivers a wonderfully muted array of new classics. This is garb for the man of tomorrow with a keenly fond eye for things past.

J crew has always had great, clean basics in multiple colors. I’m glad that they’ve transitioned away from that uber-safe lumberjack look.
