I’m a huge fan of the seasonal lookbooks for 45rpm; Particularly, the photos of the women. My intrigue is not peaked by the fashion or styling alone.
There’s multiple facets that add to the images’ interest. Many times, the models expressions don’t look too contrived. There’s a very friendly allure to their gaze. The styling for the men’s collection is equally impressive, but the male models are far more serious than the women. It’s not really “off-putting,” but I find the women’s portion a bit more effective. They typically look like someone had photographed them on vacation (in some carefully styled outfits, nonetheless). For as long as I’ve been a fan of this brand, I don’t usually see their clients dressed in this manner. And that’s another interesting aspect to 45rpm’s lookbooks. The styling creates a character of sorts. The shoot locations always seem to be ethereal and adding to the overall cinematic feel of the photographs.
