While fast food isn’t a heavy topic here at Swipelife, we do however tend to gravitate towards design and architecture. Mega restaurant chain McDonald’s is looking for a new brand identity and redesign. They are moving forward with the notion of creating a McDonald’s community center, where people could spend time and eat. France was the first to get this community center idea and the structuring included an architectural idea that included a modern space. Features such as clean lines, better lighting, wood, brick, a new roof, and mixing in other colors other than red and yellow were thrown in.
Space is important in this idea of a “community center” and it is broken down to three areas. First is a “linger” area for relaxing which includes a bar-type space. The “grab and go zone” includes Plasma TV’s, Wi-Fi, chairs, and sofas. A “Family Zone” is also established for a family dining atmosphere and experience.
According to McDonalds, an estimate of 7,000 US restaurants will be rebuilt or “modernized.” They will be focusing on changing the menu, store space renovations, and implementing a new ordering experience. President and COO Don Thompson exclaims: “People eat with their eyes first. If you have a restaurant that is appealing, contemporary, and relevant both from the street and interior, the food tastes better.”
