Styled by Akira Maruyama and photographed by Naoki Ishizaka, Japanese label Shellac has put together a gritty but glossy, rough but detailed oriented look book for their Fall 2009 line. Model Rutger Derksen wears the looks with a snotty, menacing persona that takes the clothing to a Fight Club, Mad Max type of universe that is befitting to Shellac’s “new styles”. The leather overcoat and gloves is on some ironic Gestapo chic, and the blue fur collared leather jacket is very hot too. The word shellac means varnish, which is interesting because Shellac’s garments are raw and unpolished.
