Smalto is italian for polish. And polish is exactly what comes to mind with Smalto’s looks on the runway for Autumn/Winter 2009. Very stylish but no frills, Smalto projects sophistication without overdoing it. Some of the garments are loose and comfortable and others are succinct and calculated. The palette is muted but when color is used albeit sparingly the result is interesting. Elegant, dare one say european sensibility prevails here, and Smalto pulls no punches this season.
