“Let Me Free” is the theme behind the grunge inspired 2009 Autumn/Winter collection by Plein. Since 2006 the concept behind the Japanese label has been a basic concept based on film, fiction, poetry, American music, & the “American-Mode”.
The pieces in this collection all fit the form without trying too hard. The prints & designs are outspoken yet somewhat understated. The lumberjack shirts, canvas shoes & trilby hat carry most of the “grunge” weight, but throw in their tattered jeans & some corduroys & you’ve officially layered in some flavor. A centerpiece for the collection is their shawlesque wool hoody, & they round out very nicely on the accessory side with a set of backpacks (fine leather & neon blue), print scarf, & fingerless gloves.
