The various outfits from Phillip Lim’s Fall/Winter 2009 lookbook suggests a slight direction away from the label’s usual ultra minimalist aesthetic. Rather than fabrics that drape the male form, angles and lines become the primary details in the shoulder structures and in the construction of trousers for the collection. There is also a switch to the widening of the torso area, which suggests a range built for comfort and ease of movement for the shifting of the garments on the body. The waist becomes a highlight for suiting, and although the midsection might be wider, the length of the suits are much shorter. In terms of hue, greyish and white color tones are still prevalent to the styles. We also see accent colors such as orange, blue, and red as a way to diversify the outerwear and tops to bring together the collection in the signature style of Phillip Lim.
