René Gurskov Fall/Winter 2009 Collection

Paris-educated, Copenhagen-raised designer René Gurskov has in the past drawn inspiration from some unexpected places, including the music of notorious pop star Boy George. For his Fall 09/10 collection, Gurskov found his muse in the “outdoor look of the English country,” as can be seen in his cardigans, knee-length coats and thick winter hats. Unlike many of his European counterparts who keep their clothes cut slim and close to the body, Gurskov opts instead for a generous, baggy fit, which makes for an oversized silhouette with many layers. The designer has said he envisions teens, their parents and their grandparents wearing his clothing, and their does seem to be something for every style here, whether it is the bowties, the bright red jacket with black lapels, or a t-shirt emblazoned with a gender-bending quotation. René Gurskov is produced by the designer’s wholesale company InCircus.
