The worlds of fashion and automobiles have long been inextricably linked. Ralph Lauren famously has an unrivalled collection of classic Bugattis, Ferraris and Jaguars; Dunhill produced their own car – the Tweenie – in 1913 and more recently co-created a limited-edition DB7 with Aston Martin (complete with integrated cigar humidor) and even Levis got in on the act in 1972 with a special edition AMC Gremlin, which came complete with denim seats and copper rivets.
Thankfully, South Korean student Jin Young Jo, showed more taste when creating her Chanel Fiole concept car as part of her final-year studies at Hongik University. The elegant 2+2 coupe was presented in black and white to reflect the classic Chanel check pattern and whilst straying from the crisp lines and shapes typical of the French maison, its art deco-inspired body captures the sculptural grace one would expect of this class of vehicle.
Presented as a series of slick computer renderings, Jin Young also produced a very professionally-executed movie animation that should cause some of the marketing departments of real world manufacturers to look closely at their own offerings.
