It’s often been repeated that by the time filmmaker and accessories designer Alexander Olch graduated from his prestigious Manhattan prep school, he had a trove of over 300 ties in his personal collection. That stockpile of vintage items no doubt informed and helped to inspire his own line of handmade neckwear, including these designs for his Spring/Summer 2009 line. Using fabrics like Belgian linen, gingham and seersucker, the ties add a touch of humor and style to the traditional bow tie. There are enough different patterns, like the striped and polka dot versions shown here, to start your very own Olch-like reserve. Alexander Olch ties can be found at Opening Ceremony.
