Chances are you probably live within driving, if not walking, distance of an H&M store, the Swedish mega-retailer with shops at seemingly every corner of the globe. If that is the case, you’ll have the opportunity to take a firsthand look at their Autumn/Winter 2009 menswear collection. The collection, loosely grouped together under the idea of presenting creative, tailored clothing, is further divided into four different categories. “Power,” for dark, aggressive pieces like the sleek, leather motorcycle jacket; “new tailor,” for garments with more grace; “forest and land,” consisting of rugged and hunting-inspired items; and the interestingly-titled “ethnic glamor,” inspired in equal part by luxurious fabrics and Eastern Europe style. Regardless of where each look belongs, the collection appears to have a cohesion and sophistication that is sometimes lacking in the typical, kitschy H&M wares.
