The Jaguar E-Type has always been a highly coveted vehicle, due to its awesome combination of looks and power. It was heralded by critics and motorists alike in the 1960s, and with its iconic status, it was inevitable that some one-offs and variants made their way to the marketplace. Jaguar dealer John Coombs consulted Italian coachbuilder Pietro Frua, who was used to working with Italian beauties like Maserati, Fiat, and Alfa Romeo. The idea was to build a series of E-Types that would be highly coveted by wealthy drivers and collectors. Unfortunately, only one model was ever made, and it was a resounding failure at the time. This particular Jag had been shortened by about 30cm and repainted in silver by Frua; in its current state it has just finished a one year restoration and looks to be in great shape. While it’s not the prettiest E-Type out there, it’s rarity and heritage cannot be overlooked, and for $41,300 (already sold on eBay) it would certainly seem that the purchaser got their money’s worth.
