Although comfort seems to be at the forefront of the Spring/Summer 09 collection from Nisica, the Japanese brand doesn’t sacrifice design. Opting for a relaxed fit in soft, breathable fabrics throughout, it’s the details that give the individual pieces a unique point of view. Swoop neck shirts, irregularly-spaced clasps and wrinkled fabrics give the line an artfully disheveled look. As with past collections, Nisica has revisited certain design elements: buttons on the shoulders of cotton pullovers and horizontal white stripes should be familiar to followers of the brand’s previous work, and are repeated again here. As Nisica continues to grow, there are updated components mixed in, as well. A plain white tee with a simple numeral 2 paired with a drawing of a deer introduces one of the label’s first forays into printed graphics.
