Brice Partouche founded April 77 in 2002 for rock stars and the men and women who adore them. His desired audience certainly took notice, with his jeans making their way onto the skinny legs of musicians like Ronnie Wood, Franz Ferdinand and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. While his previous designs might have seemed at home in the East Village, Partouche is now looking to the west for inspiration. Specifically, the American Southwest. With his just-launched high-end line, simply titled Collection, Partouche takes familiar pieces and gives them a desert spin. Take his wool motorcycle jacket in Navajo print. The cut and style is in line with April 77 designs, while the technicolor fabric takes it out of the city and into the outback. Luckily, you won’t have to go that far for this and other items like railroad-stripe shirts and hand-knit ponchos. Come July, Collection will be available at fine stores like Barneys, Bergdorf Goodman and American Rag.
