Colin Chapman lives on. His creation of the Lotus 7 over fifty years ago gave us one of the coolest sports cars of all time. Embraced by the automotive community, its design has spawned countless replicas (see our previous Sunbeam LSR Tribute) and is the basis for simplicity in modern club racing. German ubertuners Irmscher have taken advantage of modern technology and have put their own twist on the 7. Offering a range of four-cylinder Opel engines (from 210hp to 284hp), the Deutschmen have also conjured up a waterproof top and adjustable suspension, making their version of the Lotus a little more drivable on a day-to-day basis. The Irmscher 7 retails for just over $72,000 with the 210hp engine.
