California-born deisgner Patrick Robinson was brought into Gap in 2007 to give the mass-retailer a much needed creative overhaul. In doing so, Robinson isn’t looking to the future, but is taking cues from the brand’s origins in casual West Coast basics. His latest contribution is the 1969 line of premium denim, in stores this August. A sneak preview of the collection showed this skinny cut jean. One of several washes and styles that Robinson and his team spent upwards of a year developing and refining, the five-pocket skinny jean is logoless and made from raw, medium-weight denim. The only touch of flair, understated by design, is a lone blue rivet on the coin pocket. Like the aesthetic, the price was kept minimal, as well, with each pair retailing for just shy of $60.
