Geely is a relative newcomer to the automobile industry having begun production only in 1998. Their GT was unveiled at last year’s Beiging Auto Show and it made a big impression at that venue. Not bad for a company that got its start in manufacturing refrigerators. The GT is returning this year to capitalize on that well-received publicity. This large 2-door coupe features styling that Geely hopes will set it apart from its Chinese rivals.
The dropped front snout of the car features a split grille that has holes rather than traditional slats or mesh. The headlamps are nestled in fenders defined by sharp character lines that sweep upward and then back down into the doors. The rear haunches have a similar curve to them with large taillamps that come to a point just above the center line of the rear wheels. The greenhouse features two small rear quarter windows for the rear passengers. The rear-drive Tiger GT is powered by a 3.5-liter V-6 producing some 225 bhp and 340 lb.-ft. of torque.

Very poor photos of a very pretty roadster! Who will market these great sports adventures in Canada? We look forward to quality built cars from China with less American capitalistic “planned obsolescence” built in, and hopefully designed for more than 160 to 170,000 kilometer life span! Repair ability and rust proofing count big in my country, as do interior heaters. We salt our roads a large part of the year, and many imported cars cannot endure this! The “Volvo” cars that were made in Sweden were the best, and the first Honda’s from Japan and most British cars the worst for rusting away! We make lower wages and live a little more modestly than Americans and in a much colder climate with very expensive gasoline! it is 95 cents CDN a liter today, for example, so good mileage counts big time for us. We like to keep out cars 10 years or more, and expect parts to be available for repairs for that long. We often put 200,000 kilometers on our Japanese cars in the car’s lifetime, and hope the Geely can do so too!
