This article from the NY Times Home section elaborates on Jason and Sarah Yee’s home in the Santa Lucia Preserve near Carmel, CA. They conceived it as a tiny village, which is a series of connected mini-houses that form a low L-shaped profile on the land. Several corridors with the Yee’s personal galleries on display offer passage from one area of the home to another.
Floors in the living rooms are concrete, and there are walls of windows to view the expansive property from the common areas.
There is additional outdoor living space outside of the kitchen that’s conducive for entertainment. An open-walled arbor room has a trellised ceiling that the Yees hope to cover with vines. The house has four bedrooms and is a staggering 5,000 square feet. Mr. Yee contends “There are a lot of little places to escape and a lot of private perspectives on the land.”
