London has given us a foretaste of tomorrow while taking a long, loving look at yesterday. This vision courtesy of Patrick Grant, who has resuscitated the old tailoring business E. Tautz. Grant is the driving force behind Savile Row’s Norton & Sons, which absorbed the original Tautz business back in the sixties, but he feels the time is right to push it out on its own again.
The result is an authentic and definitive representation of English gentlemen. Everything they make is hand-made in Britain. The knitwear is made in Scotland and Wales, the belts in Scotland, and the leather goods, shirts, ties, hankies, suits, jackets, trousers, and overcoats in England. All sources of cloth are from the fine mills of England and Scotland.
