A good title for Simon Spurr’s Fall 2009 range would be “Space Age Elegance.” There’s a certain futuristic subtlety about the pieces, especially the suits and jackets, which makes me think of the sci-fi film Gatacca. Spurr plays a lot with textures and surfaces, and the details infused with most of the outerwear are truly a standout. The continuity of the color pallete is also subtle, yet bold – black, whites, grays, camel brown, tan, red. Though the color is not so much the main highlight of the collection, it does however give perfect balance to the textures and fabrics Spurr uses throughout most of his items.
