Being that Raf Simons’ background was in industrial design, many of his innovative creations draw inspiration from sculptural shapes. The designer has defined and refined his aesthetic for three years as creative director of Jil Sander and this has led to his explosion on to many fashion mainstream outlets. This is highly evidenced by his numerous collaborations with many well-recognized brands within the past year. Tops included bulbous, sweatshirt-like pullovers and thick, ribbed sweaters with dropped shoulders and curving sleeves. Several pieces honored a neo-futuristic style, in their cut and color palette, which was dominated by greys and blacks. Excellent tailoring and contoured lines lent to this architectural collection.
