Reducing weight, optimizing cost and providing sustainable solutions that generate consumer appeal are some of Johnson Controls priorities. With the debut of its re3 concept vehicle at the 2009 North American International Auto Show in Detroit this week, Johnson Controls displays its capabilities targeting the growing small car segment. The re3 houses an “extended cluster” with a 7-inch touchscreen, a seat-wing armrest and controller that moves some of the controls away from the dash, and a lithium-ion battery pack that makes use of “active cooling” and is able to be tucked in between the two front seats. The concept car can supposedly fit five people relatively comfortably.
